In Use Case 12: Countdown to iPad – Teammate, we introduced iPad as the “politically correct meeting tech.” And although iPad can benefit a single team member, when you outfit an entire workgroup it really gets interesting. When everyone follows along on their iPad, you…

…don’t need to wait for a conference room with a projector.

…eliminate the last minute rush/waste of printing and copying handouts.

…don’t turn out the lights for presentations, so no one sleeps.

…don’t have to send out for the one report everyone forgot.

One of the most clever interactive technologies I have encountered can be seen at mypoingo.com. A year of so ago I had the opportunity to provide my youngest 2 glorious OOH-n-AAH! filled days. We immediately fell for the quirky Poingo charm. So much so that we set out to buy her some of her own books. That’s when the magic started to fade. I soon discovered this singular experience to be truly rare indeed, as only a couple of titles were available.

My educated guess is that the uncommon technical approach is both Poingo’s blessing [translation: fun to use] and their curse [translation: expensive to produce]. Perusing their website today yielded more titles, but still a small selection given how long the product has been on market.

iPad - taking learning to a new level

iPad heralds a new day in interactive technology. No special pen needed, just a touch of a child’s finger brings the magic to life. iPad will give my daughter and I both many an OOH-n-AAH! day. However, unlike the Poingo, I expect the river of content to flow and flow.

iPad - a heathy dose of OOH-n-AAH! covered in a layer of Yippee!

It was exciting to see these brands/disciplines brought together under the FranklinCovey (FC) banner in 1997. Since coming together, FC has added many new products, seminars and consulting offerings.

Where I have long felt the company deficient, was in the tech/software arena. While FC has certainly tried to make the jump to digital planning and life management, their success has been lackluster when compared to past accomplishments. It is time for Franklin’s planning/GTD (Getting Things Done) know-how, Covey’s understanding of life/business governing principles and Apple’s legendary ease-of-use penchant to come together. It is time for my dream planner, FranklinCovey on iPad.

So what do you say, FranklinCovey? Are you ready to combine my aging favorite planner, my mentor of life principles (he just doesn’t know it) and the latest rule-breaker from Apple? This inquiring mind would like to know.

It was while trying out this nifty little interval fitness timer, that I got the idea of using the iPad as a personal trainer. Merging a timer and training videos allows you to work at your pace and in the order you choose. When the time comes to change up the routine your iPad personal trainer is there to help you learn the new moves.

Sometimes doing a family puzzle is more of pain-filled experience than a fun-filled one. Getting it out… BAM! Putting it away… POW! Losing the pieces… CRASH! Closet space taken up with cardboard boxes. Well, no more… this has got to stop! It was my bride-wonder who thought up this clever iPad use case. With software you make your own puzzles using family and vacation pictures. You start and stop your puzzling adventures as often as needed and never lose your place or a piece again.
